New Music Monday: August 2014 Playlist

I came across two truly spectacular artists recently. FKA twigs, a former video girl, delivered a knockout album in which she showcases her spellbinding voice amid sultry, R&B beats. Her song, "Two Weeks" is a must hear. The other discovery was an artist by the name of Liam Bailey. KCRW's Anne Litt described Bailey as a soulful Brit with Jamaican roots, discovered by Amy Winehouse. The universal longing for a lost love he conveys through the simplicity and beauty of his vocals is mesmerizing. I was utterly floored the first time I heard the song "Stun Me." Perhaps my extreme emotional reaction was the result of my post-yoga high as I drove home from class that morning, but I suggest you take a listen and see for yourself!
